Anna Battison (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), for the project Questioning the Myth of the Modern City: Processual and Performative Approaches in Alternative Spaces in Italy and the United States at the Turn of the 1960s to the 1970s.

Anna Battiston is an independent curator, art critic, and affiliated researcher at the Cultural and Social History of Art laboratory (HiCSA) at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She completed her doctoral dissertation, in co-supervision with IUAV University of Venice, on the relationship between art and politics in Italian art of the 1960s, with a particular emphasis on cultural diplomacy and artistic exchanges between Italy and the United States. Her research and publications focus on cultural circulations and transfers, as well as post-Marxist and feminist art history and theory. Her recent publications include Lieu de l’art : topographies et modes opératoires de l’art contemporain (Presses Universitaires de Rennes, 2026). She has taught contemporary art history, art theory and historiography, and the history of artistic institutions at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where she held a teaching and research fellowship within the HiCSA laboratory.
