Anna Saroldi (DPhil Oxon), currently Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Durham University, is a scholar of translation studies and mountaineering literature, with a specific focus on collaborative practices and archival research. The Ragusa Foundation grant supports Saroldi’s project ‘Franca Rame and Dario Fo in New York’, which centres on the role of Franca Rame as translator, and in particular her key work in developing theatre surtitles for her and Fo’s 1980s performances in the US. This research continues the work of Saroldi’s DPhil thesis (winner of the 2024 thesis award, IULM University), and will be part of their forthcoming monograph.
