Andrea Mirabile (PhD, University of Milan and University of North Carolina) is Associate Professor of Italian and Cinema & Media Arts at Vanderbilt University. The Ragusa Foundation grant supports his project on “Lucio Fontana: immagini e parole.” His research focuses on post-structuralist criticism, comparative literature, art theory from Antiquity to the present, and the relationships between verbal and visual texts. He published articles and books, in Italian and English, on Roland Barthes, Alberto Burri, Gabriele D’Annunzio, Lucio Fontana, Roberto Longhi, Piero Manzoni, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Ezra Pound. He is the co-editor (with Alberto Conte) of the “Meridiano” on Cesare Segre. Opera Critica. (Milan: Mondadori, 2014).
