Cornelia Weiss, J.D. and independent scholar, for the project Imposing Unequal Pay for Equal Work: the UK/US Military Governments in Sicily and Campania. 

Cornelia Weiss (BA in Women’s Studies from the University of Utah, MA from Chile’s national academy of strategy and policy studies — ANEPE, and JD from Vanderbilt University School of Law) worked for over 25 years as a Judge Advocate, for the U.S. Air Force. She retired with the rank of colonel, and is presently an independent Scholar in Washington DC. Awards received during her military service include Colombia’s Medalla al Mérito Militar en Derecho Humanos y Derecho Internacional Humanitario “General José Hilario López Valdés” and the US Air Force Keenan Award for making the most notable contribution to the development of international law. She has published on major juridical and diplomatic venues, such as the European Journal of International Law or The Ambassadors REVIEW. Her Ragusa Foundation grant will support her archival research in Italy regarding the 1943-1954 UK/US military governments’ imposition of unequal pay for equal work, to include echoes in today’s gender pay gaps.
