Fabio Caredda, Iri da Iri Production, Reimagining Dante’s Vita Nuova for Contemporary Cinema.

Fabio Orpheo Caredda is a French filmmaker, writer, musician, and researcher whose work explores the relationship between cinema, literature, and philosophy. He is currently a PhD candidate in Italian Studies at New York University under the supervision of Maria Luisa Ardizzone. His research investigates how Dante’s Paradiso constructs divine space through repetition, and the experience of vision, asking how words can generate new forms of perception. Working across scholarship and filmmaking, he develops an interdisciplinary practice that brings medieval thought into dialogue with contemporary cinema. His first feature film, La Vita Nuova, is the result of six years of immersion in the city of Rome and explores memory, poetry, and the transformative power of images through a cinematic language that seeks to renew our way of inhabiting the visible world.
